Welcome to episode 43! Jim and Fred sit down with photographer Marina Scarr to talk about her wildlife photography. Marina's wonderful images are currently featured in several nature and Audubon publications and brochures. Marina began shooting with film and transitioned to digital in 2007. Check out her photograph with a fledgling Osprey on her head! In the news, Kodak may be preparing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and may break up into separate business units. Fuji has announced a new E.V.I.L. camera, Kentucky wants to issue hunting licenses for sandhill cranes, and the FAA grounds the whooping crane migration ultralight, then grants an exception to allow them to fly. Happy New Year and welcome to Podcast #42! This is our second annual "Year in Review" podcast and we discuss some of the photo related events that happened during the last year. We also review the guests that we have interviewed over the past 12 months and give a little hint of what is to come in 2012. We plan to offer more DIY projects, more training (including another free eBook which will be released in mid-January) as well as workshops and more interviews!
In the news, we have more updates about the troubles at Olympus Camera and show one of the year's best nature photos selected by National Geographic Magazine. Happy Holidays, everyone! Jim and Fred have a special interview in Podcast #41, Haje Jan Kamps. Haje is the author of a number of photography books, a blogger on a popular photo site, The Photocritic, and is now the designer and inventor of a new photo accessory, The Triggertrap - http://triggertrap.com/. The Triggertrap is an electronic device that will work with most cameras and allows the photographer to trigger the camera (or multiple cameras, flashes, etc.) based upon an event. The device has the built-in ability to be triggered on a laser, an audio event, a built-in intervalometer and even an accessory port to allow the photographer to trigger the camera on any outside event! The device will be on the market around February 2012 and a do-it-yourself circuit board version should be available around March. Welcome to podcast number 39! Fred and Jim present their avians and aviation special - bird and air show photography. Fred travels to an airshow in south central Florida and offers tips and suggestions for capturing classic and military planes in flight. Jim and Fred also travel to a bird rehab center and talk about bird photography and the similarities (and differences) between capturing birds in flight and aircraft. In the news, more information about the 20 years of losses and cooking the books at Olympus camera, as well as new professional video camera releases from the new Canon Cinema EOS division and Red, Inc. Both companies have released cameras that are capable of working in a professional Hollywood setting with new digital cameras. In addition, Canon has a firmware update for the Canon 5D Mk II and Adobe has put up Release Candidates for Camera Raw 6.6 and Lightroom 3.6.
