Happy Holidays, everyone! Jim and Fred have a special interview in Podcast #41, Haje Jan Kamps. Haje is the author of a number of photography books, a blogger on a popular photo site, The Photocritic, and is now the designer and inventor of a new photo accessory, The Triggertrap - http://triggertrap.com/. The Triggertrap is an electronic device that will work with most cameras and allows the photographer to trigger the camera (or multiple cameras, flashes, etc.) based upon an event. The device has the built-in ability to be triggered on a laser, an audio event, a built-in intervalometer and even an accessory port to allow the photographer to trigger the camera on any outside event! The device will be on the market around February 2012 and a do-it-yourself circuit board version should be available around March. Haje's blog can be found at http://www.pixiq.com/contributors/3673 In the news, Adobe has released Lightroom 3.6 and RAW convertor 6.6, images from a Canon Camera lost at sea a year ago were recovered and found their way back to their owner, the Compact Flash Association has announced a new card format, CNN lays off 50 photojournalists, and Unified Color has released updated versions of HDR Expose and 32Float. Welcome to the Fotobug podcast number 34. In this episode we have an exclusive on a new product that any nature or landscape photographer who uses a tripod (you do use a tripod, don't you?) will want to try. This nifty invention is a quick realease tripod head mount that allows you to quickly change heads on your tripod - for instance from a gimble head to a ball-head. Jim and Fred speak to the inventor and show off the new device. The new tripod quick release is now available from Outdoor Photo Gear and Nature Scapes. In the news, Toshiba has announced a new Wi-fi capable SD card, ICVT has a new method to optimize JPEG compression, the release candidates for Lightroom 3.5 and RAW 6.5 are available from Adobe, and the Fotobug guys discuss a new website - www.youarenotaphotographer.com. Apple has announced details of its forthcoming IOS operating system, Pentax has released an add-on GPS, and Nikon'n latest ads with Ashton Kutcher was filmed with a Nikon DSLR! Sigma announced the pricing of its new 120-300 f/28 lens. In the Q&A feature, Jim and Fred discuss focusing issues for landscape photoraphy and talk about rear button focus for sports and nature. Episode 23 marks our one year anniversary and on this podcast we interview Michael Raso, the host and creator of the Film Photography Podcast! Michael is a New Jersey based photographer and filmmaker who dug out some of his old film-based cameras a couple years ago and decided to start a podcast for people still interested in film photography. This was a very interesting interview and one that you don't want to miss! For instance, did you know that an independent company has cranked up one of the old Poloroid plants? It's true, and that's not all! Michael is giving away film and even cameras are available on their website - and they discuss cameras from the Holga all the way up to the big 8 x 10 monsters.
