Welcome to Podcast 28! In the news, Sony announces new DSLR, and a new lens for its NEX camera as well as the Sony World Photography Awards. Apple has announced details of its forthcoming IOS operating system, Pentax has released an add-on GPS, and Nikon'n latest ads with Ashton Kutcher was filmed with a Nikon DSLR! Sigma announced the pricing of its new 120-300 f/28 lens. In the Q&A feature, Jim and Fred discuss focusing issues for landscape photoraphy and talk about rear button focus for sports and nature. In Podcast # 27, Jim shares his recent trip to the Lake Wales ridge including Bok Tower, Spook Hill and the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. The Fotobug guys also discuss the Stefanie Gordon space shuttle image shot with her iPhone that has raised copyright questions, Twitpics and other services (Facebook?) retain the right to sell and distribute photos uploaded to their services, the new Sigma SD1 has been revealed, Drobo is giving away 100 Drobo backup units, Datacolor has introduced an app that allows the iPad and iPad2 to be color corrected, Nikon is suing Sigma for patent infringement, and Hasselblad has introduced a camera that effectively produces a 200MP image! Listener Ted sent in a question as to how to curve text around an object in Photoshop and Jim demonstrates how easy it is! The Shootout is back! The Black Hills Photo Shootout in Rapid City, South Dakota that is! Registration is now open and is only $150 for the weekend which includes 4 workshops/seminars. The Shootout will be held in Rapid City from September 30th - October 2nd and the featured speaker is David Stoecklein and several workshops will be given by our own Jason Hahn and his partner Les Vorhis.
