Welcome to episode number 92.  Jim and Fred welcome back our friend, Chris Klapheke, from Outdoor Photo Gear (, who shares some great holiday specials and new items for photographers.  Get out your wallets and tune in!  Unfortunately, Troy the Turkey, was unable to make it this year. but hopefully some of you found him on the Outdoor Photo Gear website on Camo Friday!

In the news, Jim investigates and discovers Nikon does not get any of their lens glass from Tamron, a frisky elk in the Smoky Mountain National Park is euthanized after jabbing a photographer with its antlers, and Apple releases an update for Aperture.

 Jim traveled to Outdoor Photo Gear to conduct a workshop on Light Painting techniques.  While there, he got a chance to tour the new OPG facility as well as interview "Troy the Turkey" and our friend Chris Klapheke.  The interview with Troy (featured on many OPG videos) was conducted at the new retail space for Outdoor Photo Gear and the interview with Chris took place at Chris' home.

  In the news, Lightworks Pro now accepts video clips from more camera models, including DSLRs; Microsoft has released more updates for 22 camera RAW files, and Adobe has now released the first of it's new Creative Cloud software.  Also, check out the website which lists locations and photographs taken from those locations.  Great idea for planning your photo ventures!  All this and Jim flies a helicopter!

Welcome to podcast #76 of The Fotobug.  Chris Klapheke returns to co-host with Jim and Fred.  Chris just moved Outdoor Photo Gear ( into a new bulding complete with classroom space and shows off the new facilities to our viewers.  In addition, Chris talks about some of the new products including camera bags, a new Canon flash unit, new Hoodman mounts and the Three-Legged Thing Tripods.

In the news, Fred, Chris and Jim discuss the new $995 2.5k video camera from BlackMagic which features a micro four-thirds lens mount and RGBDng Raw format 2.5k video capture with a super 16mm sized sensor.  Also, the Metabones micro four-thirds lens adapter to allow the use of Canon lenses has been delayed until after July.

Chris Klapheke from Outdoor Photo Gear ( join Jim and Fred as a guest host on today's podcast #25!  Chris will be giving some suggestions for photo accessories as we move into late spring and into the summer and is providing the prizes for our Caption Contest.  Also, Jim will be demonstrating the new Perfect Layers from onOne Software which is currently entering a free public beta.  Perfect Layers is a plugin for Adobe Lightroom that adds layering and some masking capabilities.

In other news, Adobe has release Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4, Canon has a firmware update for the 7D, Nikon has a firmware update for the D7000, and Sigma is celebrating its 50th anniversary!

Oscar-nominated British documentary-maker Tim Hetherington, 40, co-creator of the Sundance-winning documentary Restrepo, was killed covering fighting between Muammar Gaddafi's forces and the opposition.  Chris Hondros, a Pulitzer prize finalist, was also killed.
