Welcome to Podcast 28! In the news, Sony announces new DSLR, and a new lens for its NEX camera as well as the Sony World Photography Awards. Apple has announced details of its forthcoming IOS operating system, Pentax has released an add-on GPS, and Nikon'n latest ads with Ashton Kutcher was filmed with a Nikon DSLR! Sigma announced the pricing of its new 120-300 f/28 lens. In the Q&A feature, Jim and Fred discuss focusing issues for landscape photoraphy and talk about rear button focus for sports and nature. Chris Klapheke from Outdoor Photo Gear (www.outdoorphotogear.com/116.html) join Jim and Fred as a guest host on today's podcast #25! Chris will be giving some suggestions for photo accessories as we move into late spring and into the summer and is providing the prizes for our Caption Contest. Also, Jim will be demonstrating the new Perfect Layers from onOne Software which is currently entering a free public beta. Perfect Layers is a plugin for Adobe Lightroom that adds layering and some masking capabilities. In other news, Adobe has release Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4, Canon has a firmware update for the 7D, Nikon has a firmware update for the D7000, and Sigma is celebrating its 50th anniversary! Oscar-nominated British documentary-maker Tim Hetherington, 40, co-creator of the Sundance-winning documentary Restrepo, was killed covering fighting between Muammar Gaddafi's forces and the opposition.
